Mono-Q, a new bottom end.

Usually when the phrase, 'a new bottom is end' is spoken, at least by my ears, I think of engine blocks. In the auto racing world, that might be in pursue of a stronger lump.

For 2010, the Mono-Q in celeste paint received a slight update to it's bottom end. In the never ending pursuit of a stiffer, faster accelerating bike, the MQ's down tube, bottom bracket and chain stays were increased in overall size.

Big Wheel Bikes was the first in my territory to take delivery of this updated rig so I hustled down there to get the details, post-build. They have three on the floor.

Here is the 2009 Mono-Q 105 bb region.

Here is the 2010 updated bb region. The down tube has a boxed '928SL bulk' to it; more laterally than before.

The front is equally sexy with it's hand masked paint scheme and just enough natural carbon fiber showing through.

2011 Bianchi Line Up- abrev.

I've been getting micro streams of the 2011 range and at this point, things are looking nothing less than STUNNING!

I'll give a quick 411 on the mid to high end carbon bikes.

-Infinito: A new groupo allowing this 2011 marvel to come in at a lower price than what was first introduced for 2010. Some hot paint jobs and well honestly, why mess with a good thing, right?!

-Oltre: This is the bike that ALL dentists out there will be trading in their spleen shattering Di2 404 Dogmas on. A race bike needs to be just flat out fast and this is where we've brought our 'A' game for 2011. X-tex technology, heaven's best carbon modulus blended properly with all the tech like BB30, tapered head tube, internal cabling. Enough bullet points on this new model to hush up those shops that have turned up their noses at Bianchi for 'not being innovative enough...' I guess some fan boys can only sell their bikes based on marketing hype; we sell ours on heritage and test rides!

That's all for now, I don't want to let too much out of the bag. In the meantime, here is a joint that should sum up 2011 for me and the dealers.

2010 Infinito at Outback Bikes, GA

Last week, during my whirl wind tour of the Southeast, I stopped by Outback Bikes in Atlanta, GA to see what the guys have been up too.

Front and center, I noticed this nice display of the Infinito Ultegra. Mike and Edgy sang the praises of the bike; UM40 Nano-carbon, FULL Ultegra 6700 build kit and sexy lines to boot.

Thanks for the support guys! OBB has been a solid supporter of Bianchi for a long time and you can always find the latest rides on their floor; Pistas, C2C and B4P and cross/commuter bikes.

Audi commerciail feat. a 2010 Via Brera

I love Audi. Actually, I love VW, Audi and the whole VW AG group of vehicles.

Audi ran a commercial over the winter with the theme revolving around 'friendly competition'.
.06 seconds into the clip, there is a father and son in a garage engaged in slot car racing. The dad wins and goes for a fist pump from his not so happy_just lost the race_son and low and behold, I spy with my little eye, a coffee cream Via Brera leaning up against the work bench.

I have had my share of slot car tracks while growing up but never a set like the one in this commercial; with a Silverstone Speedway-ish tire arch. Silverstone's arch is on the back section of the course and not in a turn, but looks the part here none the less.

As for the Via Brera, I'm wishing I nabbed one when I had the chance. This bike and the Via Condotti are limited edition paint models. Most of them were pre-sold off last fall's orders and sold like hot cakes in their usual key sizes.

New lube!

I'm open to trying new things. Interbike 2009 my biking brand fan from Strong Island popped in and layed this in my lap.

I've properly degreased the chain and have applied one pass coat of Chain-L. Sort of reminds me of Phil's Tenacious Oil...more on the lube's performance later.

Cycling Tip for June.

If you swap your stock fork on your bike for an after market, never assume they are the same length. Always recheck you brake pad alignment after installing the new fork; as shown in the photo below after installing an Easton full carbon fork on my Chorus 1885.
