Macaframa clip-- Cardiel

The summer is still steamrolling along and the bike is still being well served by all in my region for enjoyment, transportation, fitness, etc.

Here is a little gem from Sac, of Cardiel on his...yeah he runs it sans decals but it's still a Pista Concept. Thanks for the video from the crew of Macaframa.

Much love to John and shredding the gnar on the PC.

2011 Bianchi Bicycles- B4P, D2 Cyclo-cross

This month we're shipping out our 2011 B4P Sempre...or as we'll refer to it from here on out; The Sempre.

Personally, I have two shops in my territory who will be taking delivery of the 2011 boy racer bike-- Gran Fondo Cycles in Nashville, TN and Just Riding Along Bicycle Shop in Laytonsville, MD.

Retail on the bike is...arrh, not just yet, you'll have to call the shop to get that detail but I will say this again (many times)-- this bike frame is ahead of many bikes from the big dogs in this price range. With the Sempre, you're paying less and getting more in quality; UHM carbon and Nano-Tech, Not a plastic frame with upgraded components. Because in the sprint, a stiffer frame gets you to the line, not the next level up derailleur.

2011 will also bring a face lift for our Cross-Terrain bikes. As pioneers of this category, we are updating the frame design on the Cortina, Torino and Iseo bikes. Verona=r.i.p. Classic colorways and graffics will be at the forefront of these models along with the category name change to 'Turismo'.

Another category of major focus are our D2 bikes; precisely the cyclo-cross models. Stepping back from our mountain bikes, we're shifting the focus on dirt, over to the drop bar nobby bikes. New paint, historic names and groupos will maintain the buzz for our loyal 'cross dealers.

I'm amped for this baby! The Zurigo-- Named after the place in Switzerland where Renato Longo netted his 5th CX world championship victory way back in 1967. The Zurigo is aimed at the working class 'cross racer; offering them the ability to race on Sunday, commute on Monday.

After a 3 year hiatus, SRAM is back on our cyclo-cross bike. This powerful component brand is well respected and utilized through out the cyclo-cross racing community thanks to its 'Zero-Loss' cable pull ratio, stout lever construction and communicative shifting while you bounce across the course. This SRAM Apex build kit gives you the flexibility of low range off road gearing with the high end gearing of a road bike.

2011 Zurigo availability is mid-August.

Shop rides, get out on one!

Last Thursday, on my way home from the VA/MD territory, I parked the E at Simplicity Cycles. This evening was their Thursday Night Shop Ride.

Seven of us rolled out at 5:45pm and headed north for some tempo on the hills. I didn't start the data acquisition via iPhone App Cyclemeter; until 6pm. Oops!

Ride map click here.

Started: Jul 8, 2010 6:01:17 PM
Ride Time: 1:22:47
Stopped Time: 0:00
Distance: 23.21 miles
Average: 16.82 miles/hr
Fastest Speed: 49.46 miles/hr
Climb: 679 feet
Calories: 1250

I'm not going to whine about being an out_of_shape sales rep...but this was the fastest and hardest I've climbed all year. Averaging close 15mph for 2 miles over 400' of elevation. I spun most of it in the big ring, sure why not, right? It was a good pain...

The descent off the back of the mountain was like dropping off the Empire State Building. Reaching almost 50mph on sub-par Hanover, Pa roads, I forgot I was on a mostly aluminum framed road bike. The carbon seat stays of my 1885 did a great job of keeping the bike planted on the road, even through the high speed sweeping turns. The only thing that I'm yearning for right now is a set of the Alex Tubeless wheels and Hutchinson Fusion2 Ultra tubeless tires. I want to feel what 90psi in a tubeless tire is like on a section of road like this one. More grip, even more supple ride? I better make a phone call to my connections soon.

Kirk at Simplicity Cycles has the right idea. This is his first year of business and is working hard at developing his community involvement within cycling. Shop rides are a fabulous idea when done correctly. His customers will make new friends in which to ride with, learn how to properly handle a road bike and navigate the local roads.

I know I'm going to do my best to have my bike and a fresh kit with me if I'm in the area every Thursday!

Custom 2010 1885

I stopped by Just Riding Along Bike Shop yesterday to pick up a small package. While waiting for Travis, my eyes rolled down the line of bikes that he supports from me. Halfway down the row my scan was stopped at a 2010 1885.

So here is what we have- 2010 B4P 1885 frame set, 2010 Campagnolo Athena build kit, Velocity Aerohead, white rims w/Sapiem Spokes and White Ind hubs(JRABS custom wheel build yields a sub-1600 wheel set), white Ritchey bits and Speedplay pedals.

This bike is for a double amputee that will be heading out on the roads for the Ride Allegheny for Operation Second Chance. Then he'll start training for the Paralympics on his 1885.

Nice build Travis!
